LightDocs · Legal
Terms of service
Draft updated October 28, 2026
Straightforward proposed terms for using LightDocs, publishing responsibly, and understanding what the public beta includes.
1. About these terms
These proposed terms cover the LightDocs website and knowledge base service. They are a draft for review and do not replace an existing agreement. The legal service operator, effective date, jurisdiction, and direct contact must be confirmed before adoption.
If you use LightDocs on behalf of an organization, you must have authority to act for that organization. Any final agreement should be presented for acceptance during account creation or another appropriate service flow.
2. Accounts and access
Provide accurate account information and keep your Google or GitHub sign-in secure. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account and for managing access granted to others.
Do not share credentials, impersonate another person, bypass access controls, or access accounts and content without permission. Report suspected unauthorized access through a verified support channel.
3. Your content and ownership
You retain ownership of the articles, branding, and other material you provide. You must have the rights and permissions needed to upload and publish that material, including any personal information it contains.
The proposed service license allows LightDocs to host, store, process, reproduce, and display your content only as needed to provide and maintain the service, follow your publishing instructions, and meet legal obligations. It does not transfer ownership of your content.
LightDocs branding, software, and website materials remain the property of their respective owners. These terms do not grant rights to use trademarks beyond ordinary use of the service.
4. Public publishing
Help centers in the current public beta are public. Published content can be viewed without an account and may appear in search engines or third-party caches. You are responsible for checking content before publishing and for keeping independent copies of important documents.
Do not publish secrets, credentials, confidential business information, or personal data you are not authorized to disclose. Private sites and user management are planned for the Startup package; a coming-soon listing does not make those features available today.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use LightDocs to distribute malware, run phishing or fraud, send spam, harass others, infringe intellectual property, publish unlawful content, or expose another person’s private information without authorization.
Do not interfere with the service, evade reasonable usage controls, probe systems without authorization, or use automated access that causes disruption. Any final enforcement process should distinguish urgent security or legal issues from issues that can reasonably be corrected.
6. Beta access and pricing
LightDocs is currently offered free during public beta without a credit card. Beta features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued as the product develops. The beta does not include a promised uptime level or service-level agreement.
Beta users will be notified before pricing changes apply. Any paid purchase must clearly disclose price, billing frequency, renewal, cancellation, taxes, and refund terms before agreement. The upcoming Startup package is not currently available for purchase, and its final features and pricing will be announced at launch.
7. Privacy and third parties
Personal-information practices are described in the Privacy policy. That policy must be finalized against actual service operations before adoption. A data-processing agreement may also be needed where LightDocs processes personal data on behalf of a customer.
Third-party authentication services, linked websites, and external services operate under their own terms and policies. Their availability is outside LightDocs’ control.
8. Suspension, ending use, and data
You may stop using the service at any time. The final account-closure process must explain how to request closure and obtain or remove your content, including applicable backup and retention limitations.
The proposed terms allow access to be restricted when necessary to address unlawful use, credible security threats, or material breaches. Where practical and lawful, users should receive notice and a reasonable chance to resolve the issue. A final policy must define how affected users can contact support.
9. Service limitations and disputes
The beta is provided on an as-available basis. It may contain errors, and documentation should be independently backed up. Nothing in these proposed terms excludes statutory rights, remedies, or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Any final warranty language, liability limits, governing law, and dispute-resolution process must be chosen for the actual legal operator and relevant jurisdictions. This draft does not impose an unverified damages cap, mandatory arbitration, or a particular court.
10. Changes and contact
The final terms should identify an effective date, explain how material changes will be notified, and obtain renewed agreement where required. Planned features described on marketing pages are not a guarantee of release dates.
Visit the Contact page for the public channels currently listed by LightDocs. A direct service and legal contact must be confirmed before these terms become final.
